Macadam

“Macadam” is a popular sports event, a footrace through the heart of the magnificent Blois heritage. Each year, more than 2,000 persons participate, whatever their ages and performance levels.

The 2019 edition

For its 36th edition on Sunday 12 May 2019, a wide spectrum of activities was planned for one and all. Whatever the participants’ levels, they were welcomed for a fun gathering, bringing together persons of all ages not for sport alone, but for the town’s heritage, as well.

Indeed, the 2019 route led runners toward the most remarkable town attractions: the royal château, the Jacques-Gabriel bridge, the banks of the Loire, etc. It was an occasion to appreciate our heritage from an uncommon standpoint.

In addition to the traditional 5 km and 10 km races, several competitions for the young took place, along with a family stroll and a Color Run, in close association with various town stores. The morning was punctuated by games, workshops and entertainment.

The route taken

With the interactive map of the route, (re)discover the natural and cultural Blois heritage: the House of Magic, the royal château of Blois, Saint-Nicolas church, place Louis-XII, place de la Résistance, Jacques-Gabriel bridge, La Creusille port, Saint-Louis cathedral and the old grain market.

Entertainment

The day was punctuated by the games, workshops, demonstrations and entertainment presented by the partner associations.

Volunteers, organization and partners

More than 250 persons helped to organize a memorable day. Several municipal services (sports, festivals and materials handling, roadway maintenance and town police) were mobilized for the occasion, as were civil protection and firefighters.

Macadam benefits from the support of a sizable network of partners and volunteers. The town of Blois wishes to thank the different actors for their valuable collaboration: AJ Blois-Onzain, the Loir-et-Cher departmental council, the Centre-Val de Loire regional council, Agglopolys, the Blois-Chambord tourist office, Or en cash, Flunch, Enedis, Sweet FM, Run Blois, Vitrines de Blois and Color Run.
